Feeling exhilarated that my latest collection, “归根”, pronounced as “Gui Gen”, will be launched at the Margaret River Open Studio. There is a Chinese saying “树高百尺，落叶归根”, meaning no matter how tall and strong a tree grows, when the leaves fall from its branches, they will land at the base of the tree, eventually decompose and become nutrients to be returned to its roots. My heart resonates with this beautiful saying, the rhythm of Nature and the circle of life.
In the 16 years journey of designing, crafting and beading, having started off working from my little Singapore home studio, my heart longs to return to the roots now more than ever. Peeling off the layers, revealing the core, the fluttering heart, back to the beginning when everything first started. The dreams, the passions, the possibilities and the knowing no limits. The materials being what I love, cherish and collected over the years, all the natural pearls, gems, vintage or recycled beads and pieces. Creating something with love, passion and soul, hence leaving an essence of myself in each unique creation I have made. Witness my growth in this latest collection and I sincerely hope that “归根” touches you as it does me 🖤 Grateful for the opportunity to open a boutique in Bunbury 4 years ago with my studio attached behind the shop front, together with a beautiful space to host craft and well-being related workshops. Later last year, I opened another boutique in Busselton, now spending most of my time there crafting in my little creative studio and at the same time fostering beautiful connections with our customers in Busselton, now a place that feels truly like home. Passion and creativity are the two powerful driving forces that propel me to keep learning new skills, refine my techniques, evolve, elevate and push through my limits so I can bring more outstanding works to the table. With Margaret Rived Open Studio, I truly appreciate this opportunity to showcase my works to a broader audience, on a bigger stage.
