Lesley Curtis is an award’s winning artist born in Northam Western Australia.
I am proud to present a captivating art selection that pays tribute to the world of native birds and animals, researching my subject as part of the process of creating my artworks.
This selection is a visual feast, offering a unique glimpse into the heart and soul of the artist who has spent over 13 years capturing the vibrant beauty of our avian neighbours and their friends.
With an exquisite blend of painting and drawings, showcasing Lesley’s mastery of various artistic techniques in the use of Watercolour, Gouache, Coloured Pencils and Acrylic mediums, adding extra depth to the work using airbrushing techniques.” I paint in a style of realism, specifically in natures spender.” In the last two years I have been tutored in botanical Using traditional pencil techniques. My work is detailed sometimes choosing to have a muted or plain background. This technique showcases the vibrance of the subject to the fore. My lifetime love of animals and nature shows in my pretrial, the subject matter, with their personalities captured within the artwork”.
My art education stared with three semesters of training under Paul Margocsy over three years.
My skill set has been enhanced through the use of a personal wide selections of art books, Youtube tutorials including Willian T Cooper. Along with 13 years weekly involvement with Busselton Art Society gaining first hand interaction, enriching my skills.
I have exhibited at most local and regional exhibitions as far afield as Kalgoorlie over a 10 year period with nurmerus awards along with approximately 160 piece’s sold These results also include a sole exhibition for thirty days, 20 months ago, exhibiting thirty original pieces along with prints on canvas also prints on art paper at the old court house Busselton.
2024 Open studio which attracted 382 visitors and excellent sales of originals and prints.
My commitment to preserving and celebrating the beauty of native birds and animals is evident in every brushstroke and pencil line, making “Inspired by Nature” a must see event for art enthusiasts, nature lovers, and the community alike.
We, the Community often take for granted the incredible diversity and beauty of the birds and animals that share our environment. Through my art, I hope to inspire others to appreciate and protect these magnificent creatures. They are a source of endless wonder and inspiration for all.
