Some of my earliest memories are the days I would spend in my father’s glassblowing studio. I soon learned to make small vessels and paperweights taking glass from the furnace. Fast forward to now, I am exploring my love of nature expressed in borosilicate glass. My processes are very different to those of furnace work as the glass I use comes in solid rods or tubes.
Glass is melted in a multistage bench top burner with precise adjustable flame control. Heat and gravity are my forces to harness and with simple tools I am able to recreate my expression of earthly elements trapped in glass.
For my hollow worked vessels I use my glass lathe or work freehand.
People often say “how did that design get in there?” Implosion processes are amazing to watch and I invite people to attend my scheduled demonstrations.
