I attended several courses at Claremont Art School conducted by John Paul, Richard Gunning, Marcus Beilby, and Drewfus Gates. My mother, who was a landscape Artist, was an inspiration to me in her life long determination to master her medium and technique.
While revegetating a property in the south west (2007 till now) I developed a love of the land. In particular, I've been captivated by Banksias. They appeal not only in their sculptural form, but also in their disposition. They hung on a bush like members of a tribe, from young and luminous, to old, and ultimately craggy. They remain a focus in my paintings along with the landscape and other forms.
