Working in porcelain, my intention is to bring the natural beauty of the natural world into my work. I am captivated by the beauty of the ocean and nature that surrounds us. I strive to capture these awe-inspiring elements and translate them into sculptural, decorative ceramics.
Porcelain is a medium which requires a patient and methodical approach. My work is formed using potter's wheel then trimmed as finely as possible. The shape of the vessel often dictating the type and style of surface decoration. I use multiple techniques to decorate my work such as carving, etching, sgraffito and painting. Each piece taking many hours to complete which is then dried slowly over weeks and fired to 1290 degrees.
The possibilities of using porcelain are endless. Though this timeless medium I hope to share the beauty, light and grace of nature. To create beautiful works to be treasured and enjoyed.
