My studio in Yallingup, Western Australia, is deeply inspired by the surrounding landscape. Towering gum trees, native orchids, and grass trees offer a constant source of vitality for my work. The wild beauty of the South West drives my passion for vibrant colours and dynamic compositions, pushing me to explore nature’s intricacies.
My artistic journey has evolved through introspection and personal experiences. Originally trained as a hairdresser, I developed a sensitivity to texture, form, and colour—skills that seamlessly translated into my painting. This background allowed me to approach my artwork with precision, capturing nature’s essence with attention to detail and fluidity.
I thrive on the challenge of abstract texture, movement, colour, and flow. I enjoy waiting for the painting to "speak" to me, a process that often takes time to resolve. My landscapes aim to evoke emotional experiences, going beyond visual representations to invite personal connections. My studio, bathed in natural light and surrounded by local wildlife sounds, creates the perfect environment for my creative process, grounded in nature's rhythms.
The dynamic interplay of light, texture, and colour in nature continuously fascinates me. Whether it’s sunlight filtering through trees or the stretch of shadows across the land, I strive to capture these moments of raw beauty. My work reflects the tranquil yet powerful essence of the landscape, inviting viewers to pause and appreciate its majesty.
My work has received recognition, including the Ludlow Tuart Forest People's Choice Award in 2022 and 2023 and the Most Popular Painting at the Quindalup Artists 2024 Biannual Art Exhibition. These honours affirm my creative path and provide opportunities to connect with a broader community of artists and art lovers. They also serve as reminders of art's ability to foster dialogue and appreciation for the beauty around us.
Ultimately, my art is an invitation for others to experience the world through my eyes. As I continue to explore colour, texture, and form, I remain committed to capturing the spirit of the land that surrounds me, creating works that reflect the transformative power of nature. My artistic journey is one of discovery, and I look forward to sharing it with those who resonate with the fusion of art and nature in my work.
