Born and raised at the foot of the Alps in northern Italy and passionately linked to my culture, I am inspired by the magic in everyday life; depicting zooming Vespa riders, Nonna shopping, a spritz at the bar, the beauty and expressivity of the human form in movement, graceful dancers, wandering minstrels and all manner of playful folk. I aim to create joyful, vibrant paintings that allow viewers to depart on their own unique journey; invent their own story around the real-life moments I capture through pigments on paper. Whilst I work across various media and techniques, I find I’m constantly drawn back to using watercolour as I feel it best reflects the essence of my subjects. It’s meticulous, delicate and sensitive, it needs to be thoroughly planned, yet is notoriously unpredictable, fluid, full of wonderful accidents and is truly magical.
