Jenny is a professional, award winning visual artist having represented the South West of Australia at Parliament House in Canberra. Jenny has a strong drawing background from her career as a draftsperson and continues to find she is influenced by ‘the line’. “Stimulated by my love of simple line I am committed to the theme of saying ‘more with less’, addressing the continuing threats that assail us in the rising issues of the environment … through beauty”. Jenny works from her own studio nestled between Xanadu Winery and Cape Mentelle (she has exhibited at both venues) where she draws inspiration for her vineyard work. She is inspired by the light in the vineyard at various times of the day as well as the changing seasons leading up to the harvest of the grapes. ”There is something succulent about Harvest time and the whole life cycle of the grape” she says. This immersion was rewarded by winning the cover design for the Margaret River Wine Association two years in a row, as well as the Wine Travellers Guide also the Rotary Directory. Her artwork is forever evolving according to her experiences, values and travels, with a passion for Life Drawing which adds variety to her vineyard and other works. Jenny enjoys using different mediums, including fibre glass where she contributed to the Margaret River Cow Parade winning the people’s choice award for her entry ‘Brahmin the Barman’ cow. Another community event she won was the entry for Banners to be shown down the Margaret River main road. The last original image called ‘Wine Process 1’will be available during the 2023 MRROS event. Jenny has also illustrated two books written by Paul Ashford Harris, a Sydney author who has written a series of books about the awareness of wildlife for children. These books were illustrated in Watercolour and are now sold out. She has been an invited member of the Western Australia Watercolour Society since 1986. In 1992 Jenny organised an exhibition to raise funds for the Institute of Child Health. ‘When I handed the Cheque to Professor Fiona Stanley , she said that receiving funds for the institute was like a “shot of life” and this led to Jenny’s deep interest in the psychology and health of children. Jenny is now an accredited Transpersonal Art Therapist. In South Africa, exhibiting my work in the presence of the president of the country, Nelson Mandela, while raising funds for Africa was a special honour. I like to be part of ‘the circle of giving’.
