My name is Gina Denford. I have lived and worked in the Margaret River region for periods of over 40 years. Finishing school in Busselton I studied at Edith Cowan University in Perth, a BA in visual arts majoring in textiles and minoring in photography. However my first passion was dance so returning to my family home in Dunsborough I started a dance school. This enabled me to combine many of my artistic desires. Also being able to design and manufacture costumes and props for concerts. I learnt a lot about running a business during those years, teaching and interacting with the public.
Drawing was what I loved to do all through my younger years and I only started painting with acrylic in my late 20's. I am a self taught painter and have learnt as I go. It has really only been in the last 6 years that I have committed to my art practice and grown a nice little business.
This will be my third year participating in the Margaret River Region Open Studios, having had two successful years. My little art studio is based in Busselton but I join local metal sculptor Kevin Singer of Inji.Scupltures for the open studios as his beautiful property is a more suitable venue. However, you are welcome to visit me at my Busselton art studio by appointment throughout the year.
Growing up near such a stunning coastline has been my inspiration for many years and it continues to guide me in my subject matter, so if you love the South West coast you'll love my paintings. I also have prints, gift cards, mugs, calendars and more. Something for every person and every budget.
Hope to see both returning and new visitors this year.
