Gerry Reilly's 40 year practice in hot glass has seen him explore a myriad of forms and designs, most often seeking to capture a sense of place he finds when observing aspects of country from both the vast and the miniscule, from ocean to central desert, age old rock formations to the action of water in tidepools.

Recently returning to a former career highlight of the early 2000s, Gerry's Cracked Earth series has reemerged in vibrant reds and Pilbara rust iron colours, utilising the Venetian giacchi technique of plunging the hot glass into cold water midway through the making process.

As he now moves towards putting away his glassmaking tools, and retiring his large furnace, Gerry is enjoying a last hurrah, spinning out his beautiful glasses and platter forms, creating vases and bowls that capture swirling light, and giving form to whimsical shapes.
