Cassandra Bynder is a Wadandi Boodja-based multidisciplinary artist who expresses ideas with paint and words, exploring her Noongar heritage and culture, motherhood, healing and the psyche. Cassandra is drawn to painting figures and faces, often working on canvas or board, depicting scenes or states of being that bridge the connection between the human experience and spirit, through beauty and excellence and intuition.
Cassandra's work is often layered with colours and abstraction, from which she builds figures into. She often blurs the line between the physical and the spiritual - reality and dreaming, and weaves in stories based on her experiences.
Cassandra has won multiple awards as an emerging artist and after her first successful solo exhibition in 2022, she has contributed to a few group exhibitions in 2023 as well planning her next solo, while staying connected to her purpose as an artist - to connect to herself, with others and with boodja, challenge modern ideals and ways of living and heal the trails left from intergenerational trauma.
