Artist Statement for the Website | Making art as a exploratory, meditative practice is imbedded into Trish Waters existence. Environmental immersion, whether drawing, painting plein air or walking and swimming allow Trish to soak in the colours, textures, harmonies and patterns of nature in order to keep grounded. This is reflected back to visitors through playful art and craft which showcases the coastal ecosystem Trish enjoys. Expect sunsets and sunrises, stingrays and a couple of octopi as well as her current obsession, light playing through water. OIl and acrylic painting, drawing, woven bowls and silk scarves sit alongside art prints and shell imprinted ceramic bowls. Trish's professional career spanning 30 years as a secondary visual art teacher have enabled an interesting fusion of styles and techniques. Her personal journey, including a delight in travel, has created a desire to share energy, joy and inspiration with you all. This can be experienced through bespoke workshops and paint and sip events as well as Margaret River Region Open Studios. The Studio is a large, comfortable, welcoming space where Trish creates, curates and showcases her work. It is conveniently close to the centre of Dunsborough, you can wander over from anywhere in town easily. Once upstairs you will find a couch and some comfy chairs to chill on as you take in the ambience. "Wow" is often heard from visitors as they emerge from the stairwell. Whether you stay for minutes or an extended visit, you will always be made very welcome and you will leave inspired. |
Artist Statement for the Event Guide | Trish Waters delights in creating art that captures the vibrant energy and peaceful moods of this precious south west environment. Whether viewing a painting, silk scarf or an art print it will lift your spirit. |

Briefly describe your studio space (is it in your home, shed, farm etc, is it filled with light, is it tiny or cavernous?) & can you provide a taste of what visitors will see and experience there? | The Studio is situated in amongst a block of semi industrial units close to the middle of Dunsborough. The walls of this large, light filled space are lined with artwork, along the stairwell too. Velvet covered tables below hung paintings showcase woven baskets and ceramic pieces as well as gift boxed silk scarves, art prints and more paintings. Stands and easels support more artwork in the gallery side of the space. Floor to ceiling windows allow light to stream in illuminating the large worktable at the other end, which will hold works recently completed as well as ongoing projects. Square shelving units lining the wall at this end hold tools of the trade. More easels display art around here, providing a vibrant feast for the eyes. Gentle music always plays and guests are invited to relax in the comfy lounge area. |
Describe the kind of interactive experience you may provide to visitors. E.g. are you demonstrating your art practice? | I thoroughly enjoy chatting to visitors about my art practice, working on this and that as well as showing the progression of my work. I love providing people with opportunities to develop their own art practice, with custom designed art experiences available ranging from one-on-one intensive painting days through to paint and sip events either in the studio or at the clients' home so MRROS a perfect time to start planning as you visit. You will always find plenty to chat about and lots of colourful artworks to absorb visually when you visit me. |
Are you sharing a studio with another artist? | No |
