Bringing clay to life, Sasha specializes in crafting whimsical and lifelike pottery animals that capture the charm and personality of each creature. Inspired by nature and the playful spirit of wildlife, whether it’s a tiny little fish with a big personality or whale full of soul and wisdom.
Sasha is a hand-based pottery artist who specializes in ocean-themed ceramics creating breathtaking pieces that capture the beauty and movement of the sea. Using hand-building techniques, carving, and sculpting, to create unique one off works that reflect marine life, waves, and coastal textures.
She uses seashells, corals & seaweeds to recreate natural texture.
Sasha was introduced to art as a small child, one grandfather was a well known Cornish potter, her other grandfather is a painter. An embroidery queen for a grandma and her mother is an artist and model, she grew up surrounded by creative people that nurtured and encouraged her.
After working 10 years as a professional photographer capturing weddings, births and newborns Sasha picked up pottery and painting as a way to destress, she works from her Mermaid Cafe, all of which she painted including the octopus mural, or from her other business next door The Mermaids Cave which holds her seashell collection comprising of thousands of shells from around the world, the cave also houses aquariums where her best friend Dave the pufferfish lives with his friends.
Sasha is autistic and finds herself constantly needing to be busy and in need of distraction, she finds clay to be more soothing and stimulating that her other art interests. When not at work Sasha is a registered wildlife rehabilitator and beach lover.
