Peter grew up in Northampton, Western Australia where he developed his passion for the Western Australian landscape and country. He has been living in Margaret River since 1993, where he works from his home studio situated on a small property in the forest.
Except for a brief period in the 1980s when he attended Claremont School of Art, he is self-taught. As an Antiques Dealer for 25 years, he dealt in fine art, both antique and contemporary, and this offered exposure to the arts world and a strong commitment to originality in design and excellence in materials. He uses a diversity of media; painting in oils and acrylic, sculpting in wood and steel and sketching in pencil, charcoal and pastel. He has a creative fascination with the natural world, and with the human form.
Peter has had numerous individual and shared exhibitions over a career spanning some twenty years, and has won awards for his Pilbara landscapes and beach littorals, including Bunbury Regional Art Gallery's South West Survey Acquisitive Award and Viewer's Choice Awards. He has been Artist in Residence at Cossack and travels annually to the Pilbara and Kimberley as a continuation of his practice.
Currently exhibiting at Yallingup Galleries, Boranup Gallery, Black Stump Gallery Broome, The Junction Gallery Port Hedland and Checkmate Gallery Bunbury .

He enjoys giving workshops and lessons to small groups by request and undertakes commissions including portraits. Explore more of his work at www.petermoir.com
