I am 71 years young and enjoying my art journey as much as ever.
Having picked up the brush about 8 years ago and rediscovering my love of painting a hole in my life was filled.
As all artists know "you never stop learning", I continue to try and improve my technique and practical knowledge, always striving for that perfect piece. My art is evolving as the journey continues, seascapes and landscapes along with birds are my favorite subjects.
If I am ever short of subject matter I simply take a drive along the coast or hop on the bike and head bush( early morning and late afternoon offer the best light in my opinion)
Every couple of years I will head north, usually the Kimberly's, and take in the stunning countryside, I love the Boabs and incorporate them in my artwork.
Although I started painting with acrylics before long I switched to Oils, preferring the chroma and slower drying time. I often have 2 paintings on the go at once so one can dry while working on the other. Canvas is my preferred surface, but I find primed board also great.
