I have lived in Forest Grove for the past 8 years and become obsessed with the history and beauty of Redgate Beach. This year is the 150th anniversary of one of the greatest mis-told stories of early European setlement in our region. Most who visit the beach are unaware of the maritime tragedy that occured there let alone of its unsung heroes and the shipwreck hiding just off shore in plain sight.

The exhibition is a collection of my own photographic images, drone and underwater videos that tell stories of the ship and of people. Stories of oak timbers grown in England 300 years ago, handcrafted in Scotland into parts of a ship 150 years ago and now lying in the sand of Calgardup Bay.

Many of the images simply celebrate the beauty of this beach and of the people who now enjoy it. Whether to surf, swim, fish, dive, hike or simply to take in this breathtaking coastline, Redgate Beach is enjoyed by all. Isaac Rock is an iconic spectacle but the little rock beside it at low tide on a big swell makes the most spectacular splash anywhere between the Capes.
