Artists note.....
I often work in large-scale abstractions, as seen in my 'Where Music Collides with Art.' - Rock Pools and Barnacles collection. Since the beginning of my art journey, I’ve always approached creating intuitively rather than overthinking ideas. This instinctive way of working allows a lot of feeling to come through in my art.
Much of my inspiration comes from nature, the beautiful paradise where we live in Margaret River. And from music. I tend to work in series to stay focused and maintain cohesion throughout my work. When I begin a new collection, I instantly hear a beat, lyric, or genre in my mind. For example, while working on a previous collection based around the dramatic crashing of waves, Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen kept coming to mind. To me, it’s one of the most dramatic pieces of music ever written.
My new series When Music and Art Collide explores this connection and represents the moment where painting and music meet.
When Music and Art Collide” suggests the moment when the two meet or come together, describing how two powerful forces meet.
