Peter is a Carpenter and Joiner who creates handcrafted timber pieces with a focus on functionality, simplicity, and natural beauty. Specialising in chopping boards and epoxy resin works, his practice is grounded in the belief that everyday objects can be both practical and meaningful.
Working with sustainably sourced timber from Margaret River and surrounding areas each piece carries its own character, shaped by time and environment, and he embraces natural grain patterns, knots, and tonal variations as defining features. No two pieces are ever the same, with each board reflecting the individuality of the material.
Peter’s chopping boards are central to his work. While designed for daily use, they are carefully crafted to highlight the inherent beauty of the timber. Each board is shaped, assembled, and sanded by hand, then finished with food-safe oils to enhance durability and bring out the richness of the grain. The result is a balance of strength, refinement, and organic form.
Alongside traditional woodworking, Peter incorporates epoxy resin to create contrast and depth. Whether forming river-style designs or subtle inlays, the resin complements the timber rather than overpowering it, adding a contemporary element while preserving the natural aesthetic.
Sustainability is a key part of his process. By sourcing materials locally and often working with reclaimed timber, Peter reduces waste and gives new life to existing resources. His background in carpentry and joinery ensures each piece is structurally sound and built to last.
Peter’s work reflects a commitment to honest design, where clean lines and simple forms allow the material to speak for itself. His pieces are made to be used and appreciated over time, developing character through everyday life. Through this approach, he transforms functional objects into lasting connections to nature, craftsmanship, and place.
