As a Designer and Artist my work is inspired by the body and form, costume, body adornment, fashion and textiles.
My wearable artworks are objects of beauty inter-twined with storytelling: conjuring other-worldly, ethereal and ancient realms and mythical figures; embracing concepts of the divine feminine and divine masculine, incorporating symbols, with a nod to ancient cultures and notions of ceremony and ritual.
I have a multidisciplinary approach to creating; from large-scale sculptural pieces through to intricate textiles, symbolic silver jewellery and statement leather bags inspired by travels through Morocco.
My work often explores the space between art and fashion. I’m interested in the language of materials and my studio practice utilises a diverse range of mediums and techniques including layering, repetition, pattern, text, stitch and surface.
I am an avid collector, curator and creator.
I explore the endless possibilities of clothe and fibre and my work incorporates textural and tactile elements and qualities that evoke the senses and memories. I am drawn to embellishments and ornamentation and I explore these using found, collected & repurposed objects transforming discarded and vintage items into precious, decorative surfaces.
My passion for beautiful design extends to my self-labeled, silver jewellery collection which is an extension of my wearable art practice and is represented in several Art Galleries throughout WA and the South West: including Yallingup Galleries, Mundaring Arts Centre, Midland Junction Art Centre, the Old Courthouse Complex, Busselton and Flinders Collective, Augusta.
My highly coveted, limited-edition Symbolic Silver designs feature my signature style and take inspiration from my extensive travels to faraway lands and a fascination with ancient cultures, sacred symbols, artefacts and textiles. Each piece tells a story and is embedded with personal and universal philosophies and meanings so they resonate with and inspire the wearer. I travel often to my second studio in Ubud, the artisan heart of Bali, to work with a family of highly skilled artisans that I have worked with for over 15 years to bring my silver jewellery designs to life incorporating exquisite gemstones that evoke the blues of the sky and ocean; including lapis lazuli, opals, larimar, turquoise and labradorite.
I see beauty in the world and aim to capture this in my work.
