As an Artist & Designer I am an avid collector, curator and creator of eclectic objects.
My artworks are objects of beauty inter-twined with storytelling: conjuring other-worldly, ethereal and ancient realms, incorporating symbolism, with a nod to ancient cultures and exploring notions of ceremony and ritual.
I am inspired by the body and form, costume, body adornment, jewellery, textiles, artefacts and architecture.
With a visual arts degree I have a multidisciplinary approach to creating; from large-scale sculptural forms and installations through to intricate textiles and symbolic silver jewellery.
My work often explores the space between art and fashion. I’m interested in the language of materials and my studio practice utilises a diverse range of mediums and techniques including layering, repetition, pattern, structural form, text, stitch, texture and surface.
I explore the endless possibilities of materials and my work incorporates textural and tactile elements and qualities that evoke the senses and memories. I am drawn to embellishments and ornamentation and I explore these using found, collected & repurposed objects transforming discarded items into precious, decorative surfaces.
My passion for beautiful design extends to my self-labeled, silver jewellery collection which is an extension of my wearable art practice and is represented in several Art Galleries throughout WA and the South West. My highly coveted, limited-edition designs feature my signature style and take inspiration from my extensive travels to faraway lands such as Morocco, and a fascination with ancient cultures, sacred symbols, artefacts and textiles. Each piece tells a story and is embedded with personal and universal philosophies and meanings so they resonate with and inspire the wearer. I travel often to my second studio in Ubud, the artisan heart of Bali, to work with a family of highly skilled artisans that I have worked with for almost 20 years to bring my bespoke designs to life incorporating exquisite gemstones that evoke the palette of the South West.
I see beauty in the world and aim to capture this in my work. I’m deeply connected to the ocean and nature and am currently working on a life size Whale sculpture for the Augusta Whalesong Festival. Inspired by our pristine coastline my creative designs and artworks incorporate textures derived from, observed or collected in nature.
