Gold, silver and copper leaf are the three frequent elements expressed in the art of my world. My works tell a multi-layered story and are inspired by the exploration of mysticism, philosophy and curiosity. Each day of the event promises a glimpse into the mastery of gilding as I invite visitors to witness the intricate art of working with gold leaf. Exhibition Opening Thursday 5th September 6pm–8pm@Voyager Estate.

Discover the magic and lustre of 24ct gold leaf as Karin works progressively on a painting or object d'art, between 11am - 3pm as the Artist in Residence in the Wine Room of the prestigious Voyager Estate Winery.
This year Karin’s new work explores the dynamics between 24ct gold leaf and natural found rocks creating small sculptures encapsulating the organic form.
As a long-term resident, Karin has been painting and exhibiting locally, nationally and internationally for the past 24 years, winning awards along the way. She loves to paint intuitively, spontaneously and from the soul. Her large vivid textured works are influenced by her Transylvanian musical heritage. Being connected to nature is important for her artistic development.
Karin discovered painting after she attended a brief watercolour workshop in Derby in the Kimberley. She entered her first painting in a competition shortly after in Margaret River in 2000 and to her surprise won the award and sold the painting. This launched her self-taught and self-exploratory art career.
'Pure Gold' is Karin’s 34th solo exhibition and she has participated in as many collaborative shows. She attributes her artistic gifts to her not so distant ancestor Portia Geach of the annual Portia Geach Portrait Prize for women held in Sydney.
“I love the ultimate freedom of expressing myself and the joy it brings me when someone else really sees and ‘gets’ my work. The titles I use for each painting complete the communiqué of what I am portraying. I revere the 3 earth elements of gold, silver and copper and infuse those in all my art creations. It is very satisfying to witness people connect while viewing an evocative work.” Karin’s first open studio was when the inaugural event was launched in 2014 and this will be her seventh.
The Exhibition Opening Soirée is on Thursday 5th September @ 6pm-8pm at Voyager Estate and is a ticketed event. The link for tickets is below under 'Events'.
