Code of Conduct for MRROS event

Margaret River Region Open Studios is a not-for-profit organisation that provides marketing for a 16-day event to promote artists at all stages of their career living between Busselton and Augusta and west of Sues Road.

As a participant in the 2024 MRROS event, you are expected to show respect and courtesy to others. All interactions should be professional regardless of platform: either online or in-person. In order to foster a positive and professional event, we ask you to confirm your agreement to our Code of Conduct.

When you arrive at 13 Percheron place there is plenty of parking. Head towards the main house via the sandstone pathway. The main house is set up as the exhibition / gallery space and the bedroom to the right of the open plan living is my working studio. All is open for viewing.

ABOUT YOUR ART PRACTICE

• Painting

Tamika is a self-taught painter specialising in land and seascapes. She is renowned for her large-scale depictions of the South West region, and in particular, her talent for capturing the distinctive coastal vegetation native to Western Australia.

As both a full-time artist and parent, she often explores the coast with her three-year-old son, gathering inspiration and reference material, then pouring that inspiration onto canvas in the studio, with an acute eye for detail and a masterful command of colour.

Tamika is self represented and has been selling her work directly to collectors around the world for 5 years.

Uploading your images

The process has changed a little this year;

Step 1 – Add 1 image that best represents your work for the printed Event Guide

Step 2 – Add an additional 9 artwork images and studio portraits for our marketing team

Step 3 – Add up to 10 images for your website listing – they can be the same or different to the images above

Step 4 – Add one main image for your website listing.

Each image must be 300dpi, between 2.5MB and 5MB, and formatted as a jpeg file.

Re-name all files to include your name, artwork title, year created, medium and size before uploading e.g., Jane Doe_Wild Seascapes_2018_Oil on canvas_10x10cm.

Please ensure the filenames contain only alphanumeric characters, underscores or hyphens. Special characters such as punctuation will cause the upload to fail.

Please add a photographer credit to the file name if required by the photographer.

Studio Details

My studio is a home studio on our beautiful Margaret River property, off of Illawarra avenue.
Many people often comment that they have never been down our little neck of the woods and love the experience of find a new and beautiful little corner of the region.

Its quiet with pristine grounds around the main house where the studio is located, with bushland and acreage properties surrounding.

The house is open plan living and ideal for setting up a home exhibition where visitors can wonder the gallery style layout. My studio is a bedroom off of the main living area, easy to see, and visitors are able to see me working , my works in progress and how my studio space is set up for a more authentic studio experience.

I will have a gallery exhibition on display in the main living area, as well plenty of works in progress in the studio. Visitors will have the opportunity to see me painting when they visit as i work on unfinished projects. they are also able to wonder the property and enjoy snacks and refreshemnts provided on the buffet stand.

It's not difficult to find however the small granny flat on the other side of the property seems to through visitors when they come. I will be located in the main house which is unmistakable.
I use extra signage to help direct people to the main house.

• No steps or barriers, steep inclines, uneven or loose surfaces
• Paths are clear from the carpark
• Suits a walking frame or wheelchair

• There is a sign that everyone can see for emergency evacuation

• Ensure that there is adequate space between your furniture and displays

• Perhaps this is mitigated by a ramp.

The total fee for participating in the Open Studios Event in 2023 is $935 including GST, and made up as follows:

• Membership renewal $132
• Participation fee $803, includes compulsory Public Liability Insurance

Full payment is required upfront by credit or debit card.
