During the thirteenth edition of Margaret River Region Open Studios, in September 2026, join Silvia for a BEGINNER'S LEVEL watercolour workshop, perfect for those whoโd like to try their hand at contemporary watercolour painting for the first time.
You'll experiment with and explore basic watercolour techniques, unleashing your inner artist as you create your very own masterpiece.

You'll take home your own beautiful watercolour masterpiece, finished, mat boarded and ready to frame!
What you'll learn:
- the differences between the three main surface textures
- how to hold a brush correctly and which brush to use when
- making use of water and mixing pigments
- watercolour techniques of wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brushing, lifting, splattering
- how to simplify subjects for emotional effect
After working through a few technique-based exercises, weโll paint a Lavender Fields scene.
Materials provided:
- prepared exercises to complete, on 100% cotton, 300 gsm watercolour cold pressed paper
- pre-drawn Lavender Fields scene on 100% cotton, 300 gsm watercolour cold pressed paper, around A5 size
- watercolour pigments
- round brushes
- masking tape, backing boards, paper towels, water containers, plastic palette,
- pencils, Uniposca markers, fine Artline markers
Feel free to bring your own brushes and pigments, if preferred.
