Jayne Rolinson - Artist Statement –Growing up in the Australian bush as a young child, left Jayne with lasting memories of places, colourful characters and nurtured a deep love and respect for nature’s beauty and harshness. Jayne did not tap into her true passion for painting, until her successful non-artistic career wound down so she could dedicate her time to raising her precious family of boys. This was a very pivotal and rewarding time in Jayne’s life for many reasons, one being when her hidden passion for art began to flourish.
I am an abstract expressionist artist who has only recently moved to the southwest. My work is influenced by my rural surroundings, connection to the land and the love of outdoors. Spending most of my life living in the country on the land has influenced me to create artworks that are often non -representational but give the viewer the emotional connection to the landscape through my eyes as an artist. For me, my work is a journey, ever evolving and continuously growing as I explore each new collection of artworks.
My creative sanctuary – my studio - is chaotic, messy, organized all at the same time. I surround myself with things that I love, sketch books , artbooks, plants inspiring quotes. This is my productive creative space so I shut the door and listen to music or podcasts or enjoy the chatter of the birds and nature while I create. I also love to paint plein air amongst nature so I will often paint under the beautiful marri trees, head to a secluded beach or travel north to be perched on a hill observing, sketching or painting.
You could best describe Jayne’s art as energetic, bold, vibrant, deep history with a complexity of layers, defined and delicate. Jayne paints intuitively allowing her artworks to evolve and tell their own story. Painting this way allows her artwork to become an ‘inspiration of the moment’.
Acrylic medium is predominately used due to the quicker drying time that is needed with the layering technique that gives the artwork depth. Oil , oil sticks, pens, pencils and other mediums or mark making tools often weave intricate or bold marks throughout the painting. With Jayne’s passion and endless curiosity for mixing colour she makes her own colour so her colour palette becomes unique and individual to each painting.

Today, Jayne is a professional award winning artist with her artwork. She runs popular art workshops from her studio and travels around WA sharing her passion for art.
