My work is a celebration of the natural environment found here on my doorstep and around WA. The bush, the forest, the birds and the ocean. I’m fascinated by the seasons, the diversity, the delicate balance of chaos and order.

"Fi describes the role art plays in her life as the very small key that opened the big door.
Living in Margaret River in the south west of WA for over 30 years, its landscape, flora and fauna and the stories that exist within it inspire her work daily. Her full time practice has led to her to take part in many group and solo exhibitions in Perth and Margaret River. She is a popular and regular participant in the Margaret River Region Open Studios and has a small print gallery in Mukau Gifts and Gallery in Cowaramup.
She believes that learning to develop and flex your own creative muscle is deeply rewarding and can be an invaluable tool for living in a mindful and connected way. Learning to use your creative voice to tell stories and interpret the world around you, not only connects you with yourself and art loving strangers, but helps develop the way we all might identify with our own communities.
Fi would describe herself as a painter, maker and illustrator. She is an active plein air painter and leads a group of local artists who paint weekly, discovering and visiting their favorite sites and locations around the area and sometimes further afield.
She is a multi-skilled artist working in a variety of mediums and can sometimes find herself working on several different bodies of work at the same time. She develops a body of work based on a specific personal experience in her life and will tend to continue to explore the style and theme over many years. Dipping back and forth between the series as life evolves and allows. She thinks this process of working is just her natural way to keep seeking and developing her understanding around complex and difficult issues. It takes time. She is not in a hurry.
She is a passionate advocate for regional communities, those with voices that are little heard, and the natural world. Endangered fauna, natural landscapes and the creative arts are constantly on her radar. She is a daily ocean swimmer and bird watcher, vegetable grower and lover of things that make her laugh out loud.
She has been awarded life membership by Margaret River Region Open Studios, being a long serving volunteer board member and is a proud founding Artist."
