Being surrounded by art, creativity and the joy of making, as a young child, inspired Emma to pursue a career as an artist. Emma has always drawn inspiration from her environment and her love of raw materials. She was drawn to creating jewellery early in her artistic career and has further developed her skills creating one-of-a-kind and bespoke pieces of wearable art. Emma has developed her skills through formal education and ‘on the job’ training with notable Jewellers. She travels regularly attending workshops learning from national and international artists in honing her skills. Emma’s respect for her raw materials can be seen in her work, the precious metals and gems Emma works with. Each have a unique story to be told, harnessed by Emma’s skill as an artist, reflecting Emma’s life journey, her love of Margaret River, the ocean, walking in the bush and the places where the materials are sourced. Emma spends time with her materials curiously imagining who might wear her pieces and the life they might have beyond her studio. She is drawn to the lustre of gold, silver and precious gems. You will see the tendrils of the Margaret River grape vines curling through her pieces, the feathers she finds on her walks and the crashing waves of the of the mouth of the Margaret River. Emma is compelled to create and hopes that upon your visit you will find her studio, her pieces and her process as compelling.
