Tanya’s relationship with art has been life long, intrinsically affecting her life choices and perceptions of her world. It is rare for Tanya not to be either contemplating or producing works.
Art in all its infinite expressions is a living, dynamic passion for her.
After completing tertiary studies in art, education, and majoring in textiles at Curtain University, she then taught art in secondary schools before travelling overseas.
Whilst abroad she met husband, Adrian; and the decision was made to return to Tanya’s roots, in Southwest WA to have a family. During this time Tanya continued to deepen her creative knowledge and skills, broadening her exploration of different mediums and techniques for their potential applications in her work; with her work being exhibited in various venues.
Important artist influences are Monet, Hundertwasser and Degas for the way they used pattern, light, layers and colour.
With their family growing up Tanya and Adrian, with children in tow once again began to travel overseas.  During this phase of her life Tanya returned to another passion of hers, teaching. This time working in the mental health field, with people experiencing serious mental health vulnerabilities. Her teaching reflected her wisdom and desire for people to realise and have confidence in their own creative expression thereby enriching their lives. She stayed working in the field for 15 years, and curated several successful public art exhibitions of clients’ works.
Tanya is now fully focusing on producing her own art, working from her private studio, unless she is creating works whilst on the road.  Her early studies and interest in textiles based on primitive mark making has remained a meaningful influence and a common thread throughout her work. Her art demonstrates a constant love for pattern, layers and colour to stimulate the intellect and invite the viewer to be drawn in, to explore and enjoy her work.
Tanya appreciates art to be an accessible gateway to absorb the viewer both intellectually and emotionally, providing the opportunity to a sense of seeing others’ creative visions. As an artist Tanya hopes that her work will also engage and affect the senses.
