Inspired by the peace, beauty and soulful energy that comes with spending time in nature, Sherrise’s artwork simplifies shapes and colours found in our local landscape to create whimsical, beautiful acrylic paintings full of colour. Based on the magical surrounds of the southwest and some of her adventures more further afield, Sherrise applies different techniques to capture texture and bush spirit in her paintings. Using shapes of foliage, landscape formations, nuts, seeds and flowers as inspiration, Sherrise leans on her graphic design background to illustrate natures jewels in a composition to hopefully lead you down the hiking trail and a place of relaxation. “I find there is no better way to rejuvenate myself than to take a peaceful moment to immerse one’s mind and body in nature. A walk along the beach, bush or forest walk or a quiet place to sit and observe the flora and fauna is a moment in meditation. The rugged and intricate beauty of this wonderful south west corner is bathed in positive energy, enlightening the soul. We are so lucky to live and visit here”. Creative expression had been an integral part of Sherrise’s entire life. However over the past ten years she has been working with children and young adults to help them achieve a sense of well-being through their own artwork and creativity, as well as continuing to develop her own art practice. She has lived on three continents in remote areas and loves connecting with nature, respecting the ancestors of the land and finding beauty all around. She is now fortunate enough to live in Quindalup on Wadandi Boodja with her husband and teenage children surrounded by the perfect mix of bushland and the turquoise waters of Geographe Bay.
