Charlotte DeLatte reimagines discarded farm equipment into expressive steel sculptures that celebrate transformation, resilience, and the enduring beauty found in overlooked materials. Growing up on a farm, she developed a deep connection to the land and an intuitive understanding of the tools, structures, and rhythms that shape rural life. This upbringing instilled in her a respect for the objects that work hard, carry history, and bear the marks of time.
For the past 7 years , Charlotte has worked almost exclusively with found metal, drawn to the weight, texture, and silent stories embedded within each weathered piece. Every discarded blade. tine or bracket once had a purpose - an origin she honours while simultaneously reshaping it into something entirely new, Through gentle manipulation and welding she brings warmth, whimsy and a distinctly feminine presence to materials traditionally associated with labour and industry.
Her sculptures explore the tension between strength and softness, decay and renewal. Influenced by memories of growing up close to nature, Charlotte often incorporates flowing, organic lines that echo leaves, branches, and the quiet movement of the natural world. She is equally inspired by the emotional moments that stitch a life together - childhood play, the joyful energy of animals, and the comfort of familiar landscapes.
Through playful curves, unexpected joins, and forms that feel both nostalgic and imaginative, Charlotte invites viewers to discover beauty in what has been cast aside. Each work becomes an act of renewal, honouring the past while creating space for new stories to emerge - revealing the poetic potential hidden within the most unassuming materials.
