Peter Hill is a Quindalup based artist who works predominately with photography and 3d digital technologies. When he first began working with 3D laser scanning in 2018, he recognised the potential use of this technology as a new form of image making. Laser scanning is a collection of measurable data that is manipulated with various software to create a virtual 3D model. From this 3D model, Peter uses a form of virtual photography to create 2D images for printing.
Peter uses these methods to record and present his observations of landscape, architecture and objects. This is his first time exhibiting as part of Margaret River Open Studios where he will present a series of digital printed paper-based works. Peter's fascination for anomalies produces haunting reflections of the world around him.
Peter has received several awards including the Photography/Digital Art category at the Darlington Arts Festival. He has exhibited in Perth, regional WA and nationally. His work is held in private and public collections, including the recent acquisition ‘Mountain Quarry_A,B,C’ by the Shire of Mundaring.
