I have been a filmmaker and art director, and my passion for stories and colour takes my artworks in diverse directions.
I am driven by the need to communicate in many forms: art, filmmaking, writing, and design. While my filmmaking focused on social justice issues and more recently historical drama writing, my art gives me the creativity to explore visual ideas, colours and narratives. Sometimes there is a highly developed idea like "The Surf God - Forever Young" and other times it is a simple desire to create a bright green, huge and bountiful vase of flowers, "Cheerful Greens". My "Pink Banksia" mural is at 1/1 Charles West Ave. I enjoyed developing this to communicate the concept of a community banking company.
Ideas and concepts constantly interplay with spontaneous and intuitive painting. My sister is my constructive art critic (we are critic buddies), and my previous gallery ownership provides me with insight.
I want to create art that has simple or layered meaning, but most importantly, is generous to the beholder.
