“We spend much of our lives seeing without observing.” - Andy Warhol
I make art to capture the exquisite beauty I observe in our natural world, sharing the glorious minutiae in the everyday that is often obscured and overlooked. If it makes my heart sing then I will paint it.
I paint in the style of Realism. My work is detailed showing the unique characteristics of the subject. My mission is to let the viewer feel what I see.
Acrylics and oils are my chosen mediums. I like to use oils on larger canvases and acrylics on smaller ones.
My lifelong love of of animals shows in my subject matter - an array of animals each with their unique personality captured in my work. My pieces include - ocean scenes; the amazing animals that dwell below the surface of the ocean and those that reside onshore; bees, birds, wildlife and anything that catches my eye and stirs my soul. Sitting in my garden, strolling through the bush or walking along the beach always makes me stop in wonder as I watch animals busily going about their lives. Bees pollinating, birds busying themselves in the branches, seagulls flying high. These are just a few of the things that inspire me to paint. Researching my subjects is part of the fun of creating art.
