Dorothy was born in Nairobi, Kenya and moved to Australia in 1970.

Her love for art began with Margaret River Studio of Fine Art in 2010 and her favourite medium is acrylic as well as pastel and palette knife in a thicker medium. After an injury on her back from a horse accident, Dorothy was able to devote time to her newest passion for art.

Dorothy’s main inspiration for her art is where she lives, on a vineyard property in the Wilyabrup region with her husband and 2 dogs. It is here she crafts many of her paintings including the vineyard scenes, claret ash drive in Autumn, grapes and the vines in the changing seasons. As you can see in the gallery above, looking towards the house from the vineyard is a favourite painting opportunity of Dorothy’s. Dorothy also enjoys capturing the beauty of Denmark WA (Elephant rocks), Rottnest Island (different bays around the island) and Cottesloe beach in her artwork.

Traveling across the globe has broadened Dorothy’s view of art and enticed her to try new forms, including life painting. She has attended many other workshops and painting facilities over the years:

1. France Paris / Studio Escalier in studio and at The Louvre
2. Loire Valley, France - Antoniina Alupi (in studio & plein air)
3. Italy - Luca with Douglas Kirsop mainly working en plein air.
4. Life drawing with Jenny Sanderson
5. Dunsborough - workshops with Carmen McFall, John Garde portrait artist, Jana Vodesil Baruffi (palette knife) and more

Dorothy's latest collection of works takes her back to her African birthplace, with paintings of the African landscape and animals.
